084 Buy a new laptop

My laptop is almost pushing up daisies. My roommates stupid cat knocked over a glass of water on the coffee table and it got under the laptop and now the disk drive tries to eject 2-3 times when it boots up or down. And, for whatever reason both my USB outlets won’t work either which means I cannot utilize my mouse that is essential for illustrating (or anything else that plugs into the USB). I really just need to take it into the Mac Store and see if it’s fixable. Grr.

096 Reward self at halfway point of 101 goals

Okay so I looked into and the halfway point is 500 days from 09/09/09 (my start date) is January 22, 2011. I used this site, and am mostly linking it here for my knowledge throughout this list. Also, I’m aware the halfway point is 500.5 days.. so maybe I’ll wait til noon to reward myself 😉

083 Manicure tootsies monthly [5/21]

Still haven’t done this. Blah!

079 Introduce Soymilk into my diet (goal is complete when this is a regular staple in my fridge)

I’m either having cereal with soy milk or a soy latte’ tomorrow. I swear.

064 Finish homework the week it’s due

I turned in all the work that was due last Thursday today and it felt good. I also realized I’m not as far behind as I thought from missing the one day. Yipee!

003 Make a Geocache and stash it

I bought a tiny little book to stash in my geocache (I still need find a box, and items to put in it….)

077 Create a memory box

My little creative monkey wifey/roommate says she’ll help me with this, yay!

100 Create a workout mix 50+ songs (upbeat only) and create a 500+ all time greatest mix for iPod

I think some of this stuff is just going to have to wait until Little Man goes back to daddy’s. Four year old’s keep you busy!

049 Learn a new language via Rosetta Stone or something comparable (Spanish or Italian)

I’m thinking maybe I’ll learn German. And, possible considering a formal class in college – I’m still undecided.

010 Create a weekly cleaning schedule and stick to it

Honestly, I cook and bake. My roommate (wife) and I have decided I’m the cook she’s the cleaner 🙂 So this goal will stay in place for when I get my own place. But, as of now the extent of my cleaning is dishes daily and laundry weekly. Sometimes Ill clean the counters, stove or “my area” – the kitchen. My little housewife is the hard core cleaner though, scrubbing floors, deep cleaning the tub, windows, dust, the down and dirty stuff and I love her for it. In return I buy delicious, fresh and healthy foods then cook and bake up a storm. Yummy breakfast, lunch and dinners 🙂

055 Update 101 blog weekly [19/143]

I’m almost caught up, I need to update again before this weekend is over to get there.

070 Come up with a consequence for incomplete goals

For right now I’m going to say a $1 donation to the charity of my choice for each goal not completed. We’ll see how the money situation is closer to the end of this journey. So be advised this consequence may change.

094 Reserved for a knitting goal

I went to my storage unit and found my two huge tubs of lovely high quality yarn calling my name. I just couldn’t justify with the little space that I have now. Some rearranging needs to take place before I can bring in the yarn. To be continued…

057 Develop 5 more habits to make life more green [0/5]

I use so many fresh veggies, fruits, eggs, etc and really want to start a compost. I feel guilty putting the orange, lemon and lime rinds down the garbage disposal, I hate throwing away all my egg shells and coffee grinds. All these things equal delicious soil. But how do you do that on the third story of a Condo? This assists with my gardening goals and would save me $$ off soil which helps my financial goals. I think it’s important I find a way to make this work. See how I justified making this happen? I’m also about 30 minutes into an Ambien so who knows. Whatever. Do you have any advice or links?

I think I missed a week there, so I will update again on Sunday seeing what I’ve done this week. Now apparently I can’t post my Paypal donate button on here, but for some reason my livejournal works so here’s the link over there, if you’d like to donate to any of my goals (thanks in advance!). Real quick I updated The List page and made it a little more fancy if you want to take a gander over there.

084 Buy a new laptop

I think once I’m back to work I’ll be able to use some of my financial aid one quarter to get a new computer. I may opt for the Mac Desktop I just need a bigger monitor.

088 Hang pictures

I got a new framed photo of Marilyn of Vday from The Mister so I had to re-hang a couple, which is fine by me! Gorgeous photo.

096 Reward self at halfway point of 101 goals

I guess I should figure when that is….. Hmmmm.

083 Manicure tootsies monthly [5/21]

So last month when I did my toes all pretty with my new Avon metallic purple nail polish I was so excited! And get this, the color lasted without chipping until this week. Crazy eh? Crazy awesome, that’s what. Anyschmooze, I need to manicure again and I wish I had a new shade to try…..

079 Introduce Soymilk into my diet (goal is complete when this is a regular staple in my fridge)

How silly am I? I have had an un opened box of Soy milk in my fridge for almost a month! I’ve been waiting for our Cows milk to run out and had just bought 2 gallons around the same time as buying the case. Excuses, excuses!

006 Compete in The Daring Bakers

Evidently they changed their name and site to the Daring Kitchen since now they do baking and cooking challenges. The challenge this month is “Mezze” which is more of a type of eating style rather than recipe so I think I’ll hold out for a baking recipe 🙂

028 Donate 1,000,000 grains of rice [4,910/1,000,000]

I haven’t done this in months and months… woops!

037 Clean out shoe collection and donate no longer needed items

I found some shoes in on of the three plastic crates of have in my room full of shoes and started them. I just can’t seem to let go of shoes. Hence the goal.

055 Update 101 blog weekly [19/143]

Hopefully back on track here.

064 Finish homework the week it’s due

I thought this goal would be a breeze and it has thus far, but now I’m glad I made the goal. I have been sick since last Friday, so going on a whole flippin‘ week now. I thought I was on the mend and then I get a scratchy throat last night and woke up with no voice and a cough. Point being, there were two assignment due today that I did not turn them in because I didn’t use my time management skills too well this week.

025 Recommend to me month

I am officially invoking this goal. So for anyone reading this, please oh please, recommend something to me. Anything. A book, movie, recipe, lifestyle change, seriously anything.

077 Create a memory box

I have the perfect box for this I just need to find things to put in it.

084 Buy a new laptop with external hard drive

I finally got my financial aid so I bought a 500 GB external drive yesterday from Costco. So now half of this goal is done. Woot! It’s sexy too and matches my laptop.

Seeee, fancy eh?

041    Get Invisaline

This week I cracked down and got a mouth guard for my teeth clenching flaw. My jaw has been killing me for weeks now and I’m hoping this solves it. Night guard down, next up Invisiline 🙂

081    Get a new hairstyle (or haircut) every six months [0/3.5]

I need to get my hair cut so bad! I look like a 60s hippy and none of my layers are even noticeable anymore! 😦

038    Budget monthly (keep register daily, pay bills weekly or with paychecks) [3/21]

December budget is in place and ready to go!

067    Maintain a 3.5 GPA each quarter (change if I feel I can maintain higher) [0/6]

I’ve dropped down to a B+ in one of my classes which sucks, but it is a second year class so I’m cutting my self some slack. However, I am still on pace for this goal.

063    Host a dinner party

I’m cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my family this year (at my grandmas house) doesn’t that count?? No? Damn.

054    Send Christmas cards (possibly homemade) to family and friends yearly [0/2.75]

I saw these on sale for 50% off already, but they were a little cheesy so I passed on them.

047    Mail [Private] a postcard monthly [3/21]

Sent November’s out last week so I’m back on track for this goal. I slacked and was sending them at the end of the month instead of the beginning.

101    Plant a tree

I know it sounds silly but I’ve been saving my apple seeds and plan to plant them. This may count if I can keep it alive.

001    Produce a successful blog

I started a new blog last week and it’s a cooking blog so eloquently named How do I boil water?. If you need some Thanksgiving advice head over there and check out my last entry.

I missed my update on Friday, so here I am 🙂 This is for the week of 11/9 which is the start of month 3 out of 21. Only 18 to go…

017 Skydive

I watched a TV program this weekend that showed a woman going skydiving with her daughter on a whim. She told her tandem partner she was not ready to jump but went for it anyway. As they are flying through the air she is screaming bloody murder. By the end of the free fall her tandem partner is trying to get her to hold her hands out and just enjoy it, she lets in and timidly raises her arms as if on a roller coaster. As they land and unstrap from each other she sits down, takes her goggles off and just waits for her daughter to land. Her daughter runs up and says ‘Wasn’t that amazing, couldn’t you do it again and again!?!” Her reply, ‘No, and I never want to do it again. It’s one of those Bucket List things and that’s it… mark that off my list. Never again.’

Scared. the. shit-out-of-me. Just sayin’

018 Hot air balloon

Speaking of scaring the shit out of me. I also watched a video of a Hot air balloon crash to the ground with injuries involved. Not a great weekend for my list, I tell ya what.

084 Buy a new laptop with external hard drive

I’m getting my student loans shortly and I’m thinking I might go ahead and get the new external hard drive I’ve been needing for home and school. Costco has some good deals on 1.5 Terabyte hard drives and that’s a crazy amount of memory, so I might as well go all in if I’m going to do it. Thoughts?

083 Manicure tootsies monthly [2/21]

Manicured my tootsies last weekend so figured I’d mention it. Anyone want to recommend a new toe color for me to try?

050 Crock Pot a meal once weekly for a month (if economical, continue on) [4/4]

Okay, so I just remembered I have used the crock pot four times and forgot to mention one here since I didn’t take pictures (gasp!) So scratch one more of this list. Yay!

Since we’re talking cooking here I’m going to show you the Pre-Thanksgiving run through I made this weekend. Including a Butterball turkey I got on sale at TOP for $7 and some change, Stuffing (from a box – oh the shame!), homemade dinner rolls, and mashed potatoes. Everything turned out really well and I learned some things which was kind of the point. Onto the pictures…

My gorgeous 14# Butterball turkey

The spread

...and yummy homemade cinnamon rolls for desert!

Now I get to enjoy turkey leftovers for the next week or so. Wheeeeeee!

072 Bento once a week (work up to daily) for school

I have not been Bento-ing per say, but I have made a lunch everyday so I’m counting this as progress.

054 Send Christmas cards (possibly homemade) to family and friends yearly [0/2.75]

The Bargain Blogger I follow is going to be posting some money saving Christmas gift ideas soon. I’m hoping she adds some tips on card making so I can keep this goal frugal. Maybe I’ll find some actual Christmas gift ideas too, or else I’ll be digging though my Avon inventory again this year for make-shift presents.

076 Become punctual

I’m happy to report I haven’t been late to work in over a week. I was late to class one day last week, but… well… there’s really no excuse. I just dilly dallied all morning….

Comments welcome, ecouraged and appreciated by the way (hint, hint).

012 Take a trip on a train

My grandma is thinking about taking a train down to visit little man for her birthday at the end of the month so I’m eager to hear how that goes for them. I still want to complete this goal either way, but it will be nice to have some first hand advice.

018 Hot air balloon

I saw a hot air balloon landing and the actual balloon being broke down after a ride, it was pretty amazing. It inspired me to at least check into the cost. So I used my ninja Google skills and found their site Airial Balloon and found out it’s $190/person.

022 Go wine tasting

I had some wonderful dark red wine at the Metropolitan Grill in Seattle last weekend and it inspired me to look into this as well. I found their site Woodinville Wine Country and found lot’s of events to choose from.

The Banana, Cherry and Apple Flambé being made.

The Banana, Cherry and Apple Flambé being made.

084 Buy a new laptop with external hard drive

I’ve decided that I”ll definitely be getting another Mac when the times comes.

093 Work on my penmanship

I’m working on this daily and when I’m not in a hurry. I think it’s going well, but I should work on this every time I write not just some of the time.

052    Put $0.50 in a jar (daily) or bank account (weekly) for 1001 days (CoinStar every 250 days for physical change)

I set up an automatic withdrawal from my main checking to my alternate not-easily-accessable checking account.

004    Learn more history of Everett

I went the the Seattle Underground tour last Saturday and loved it! I think I’ll change this goal to Seattle as it’s a much bigger city and I’ll probably learn more from it. I’ll add the Everett goal to my next 101 goals list.

061    Take a self portrait every month (review and make note at end of 1001 days) [1/21]

I’m still taking pictures every few days or so on DailyBooth. They email me every three days if I don’t update.. heh.

005    Cook 5 recipes from all my cookbooks

I didn’t cook this from one of my cookbooks, but I did try a new recipe called Broccoli Rice Quiche. It was YUM!

090    Have dinner with my Mom once monthly [1/21]

We had a BBQ for little man last Sunday as a farewell party, since he’ll be with his Daddy until Christmas. So I count it, we had a meal together. 🙂

037    Clean out shoe collection and donate no longer needed items

Since little man left today I will have a lot more time to go through my room and get the shoes organized. I found 2 (large) milk crates that I plan to get my shoes chiseled down to fit in.

101    Plant a tree

So I hadn’t thought about this and I probably wont count it, but I planted 10 Bonsai tree seeds (in a plant pot) and have yielded 4 out of the bunch. So, technically I’ve planted a tree. I read up on Bonsai the other day and apparently any breed of tree is considered Bonsai as Bonsai means the art of growing and trimming it to resemble a miniature tree. Guess how long of to grow these before I start trimming. Three years. I’m excited though because it means I did it, I didn’t go out and spend $50-$100 on an already grown, trimmed one. Although I probably will because I love the look of Bonsai and I would like to learn the art before hacking away at my raised-from-birth Bonsai. 😉

055    Update 101 blog weekly [4/143]

Notice what you’re reading? It looks like I’m keeping up with this one juuuuuust fine.

064    Finish homework the week it’s due

First week, I didn’t have any homework. This week I finished right on time. Whew!

066    Unplug once a month [0/21]

I still have 7 days for this to count for my first month since I started on 9/9… heh. Now, let’s see if I can put.down.the.iPhone.

001    Produce a successful blog

We shall see, I’ve been tracking hits and posting my blog links in Facebook and Twitter (Follow me). I have another blog on WordPress too called Sarcasticaville, go ahead and check it out.
